Want to eat better? Here are the best snacking tips that will keep you feeling full for hours.
This is usually how things go: We’re hungry, we reach for a snack, and then less than an hour later (or even a few minutes) we’re looking for something else to eat. It’s an unfortunate truth for many of us, but how do we fix never feeling full? The answer is to snack wisely and implement a few habits that will help you stay full and satisfied (rather than hangry) for hours.
Smart Snacking Tips
Stay hydrated
Many of us actually mistake thirst for hunger. When we are dehydrated, our body creates mixed signals that make us feel hungry even though what we really need is water. If we stay hydrated, this is rarely an issue and we’re less likely to binge on snacks due to false hunger cues. Always make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day and that you always have a large bottle with you if you’re on the go.
Make it small
When you use smaller plates, bowls, and cups it actually tricks your body into thinking it’s eating more than it actually is. When you eat snacks, consider dividing them into small portions. We love these durable, little bowls to store our snacks in because they are BPA/BPS-free, microwaveable and dishwasher safe.

Always have sliced fruit and veggies
The best snacks you can eat are healthy, whole foods that are packed with fiber. If you always have sliced fruit and veggies on hand, it will make choosing them as a snack extremely easy. Don’t feel like slicing everything up on your own? Simply buy fresh fruit and raw veggies pre-cut and packaged at your local store.
Have something crunchy
Crunchy foods including carrots, lettuce, and apples take a while to chew, making them some of our favorite foods to snack on. The act of chewing and chomping can help you feel fuller due to the sound it makes – listening to yourself eat crunchy foods makes you mindful and conscious of how much you’re eating, ultimately leading you to eat less.
Focus on eating fiber
High-fiber foods make the perfect snacks. Avocados, berries, apples, beans, whole grains, and nuts are a few high-fiber foods that are filling and help you feel full. They are also low in calories and when paired with drinking water, you will likely be satisfied for hours.
Add chia seeds to your meal
Chia seeds are a great source of fiber, omega-3 fats, and protein. You can easily make chia seed pudding, or add them to smoothies, oatmeal, and yogurt. When consumed, especially with water, they expand in your stomach which helps you feel fuller. They also promote slow, effective digestion and promote an energetic family.
